Our Copenhagen data center has twice been awarded 'most sustainable data center project' at the Danish Data Center Industry Awards. By using heat pumps we return 100% of excess heat back to the district heating plant, thereby lowering the district heating plant's CO2 emissions and at the same time providing heat for some 1.500 households.

Household electricity consumption
On average, the household electricity consumption for roughly 0.65 homes equates to about 1 MT of CO2 emissions.

Natural gas heating
With natural gas releasing some 2 kg of CO2 per cubic meter, heating an average home for a year could easily emit 1 MT of CO2.

Plastic waste
Considering the life cycle of plastic, from production to disposal, just 18.000 plastic bottles are estimated to result in 1 MT of CO2 emissions.

Car travel
Driving a gasoline-powered car, you'll reach 1 MT of CO2 emissions after driving roughly 5.000 kilometers. That's about 1/3 of the average mileage per year.

Air travel
A single round-trip flight from Copenhagen to New York generates roughly 1 MT of CO2 per passenger.

Train travel
It takes about 80 round-trips between Copenhagen and Berlin on a high-speed train to generate 1 MT of CO2 emissions per passenger.

Our calculation model for CO2 emission reduction
We have requested CO:PLAY to review our calculation model for what our customers can contribute in terms of CO2 emission reduction by using Penta Infra CPH01 as data center. The purpose of this review was to assess whether our calculation model is accurate and based on sufficiently qualitative data, so that it can form the basis for communication to customers about CO2 emission savings.
CO:PLAY assesses that Penta Infra's calculation model, regarding what Penta Infra’s customers can contribute to the reduction in CO2 emissions by using Penta Infra as a data center, is accurate and based on sufficiently qualitative data. This assessment is made in light of the data underpinning the calculation model and for the purpose of communicating a reduction.
